Microsoft Copilot for Security General Availability
Today marks a broad jump forward in IT security as Microsoft announced that Copilot for Security will be generally available April 1st, 2024. As one of the 12 original partners invited to the private preview, we have spent the last six months evaluating, testing, and, yes, playing with Copilot for Security. To call it a “game changer” may actually undersell its features and capabilities and impact on our industry. At Synergy Advisors, we are very excited to show you what Copilot for Security can do to improve your organization’s safety and your IT department’s efficiency.
What is Copilot for Security?
Copilot for Security leverages artificial intelligence, machine learning, and large-scale data models to help security and IT personnel discover, analyze, and respond to cyberthreats. As these dangers continue to evolve, Copilot for Security offers an evolutionary leap to help you stay ahead of tomorrow’s attacks.
If you have not had a chance to look at Copilot for Security before, here are some of the reasons we are so excited about it:
- The security industry’s very first generative AI solution
- Leverages more than 78 trillion signals per day
- Partner program with already more than 100 partners (including Synergy Advisors!)
There are a wide variety of use cases where Copilot for Security can help improve organizational efficiency and security. Where your organization can find the most value in Copilot for Security will depend on your industry, M365 platform configuration, security personnel and procedures, and a variety of other factors. Our architects would be more than happy to sit down with you and take these general features and functionalities and map them to your unique scenarios. That said, here are some of the common use cases we see, based on our experience in the preview program:
Copilot can help summarize what transpired during an incident, correlating data and signals across M365 workloads, including identity, compliance, and threat protection. It can also report the breadth of the attack, showing what systems and resources were compromised and may be at risk.
Enable your analysts, even those with limited scripting knowledge, to quickly and easily understand scripts used by an attacker; even the most complex lines of code can be translated into easily digested pieces.
Copilot can provide recommendations to respond to the incident, including comparing multiple remediation options and providing step-by-step instructions.

Our AI architects can demonstrate specific use cases designed to improve security personnel efficiency and ensure your organization continues to be protected from the latest threats. For a more hands-on experience, we offer a laboratory environment where you can walk through different pre-built scenarios or explore on your own. Once you are ready to deploy, our team can help you build out the solution in your environment:
- Prepare your tenant for Copilot for Security
- Create an optimized design plan
- Implement Copilot for Security and configure complimentary workloads
- Train your administrators and support staff to use Copilot for Security
We have also leveraged Copilot for Security features with our E-Suite offerings. For example, E-Vigilant, our alerting, notification, and response tool, can now leverage Copilot for Security both as an input and an output. Copilot for Security can send a prompt to E-Vigilant, such as a new threat detected on a user device, and E-Vigilant can automatically initiate a workflow to, for example, contact the user, begin a scan on the device, open a ServiceNow ticket, and more. E-Vigilant can also pass incident information to Copilot for Security, which can recommend the most appropriate response.
M365 & Copilot for Security
Copilot for Security relies on data and signal inputs from across M365 workloads and the more signals we add, the better Copilot for Security can do to discover and respond to threats. Our architects can help you assess your existing Microsoft security workloads. We then work with you to optimize them according to best practices and prepare them for use with Copilot for Security.
