E-Migrator Zoom to Teams: New Features

We’re excited to announce new features in our E-Migrator Zoom to Teams solution! Our development team has been working hard in the first half of the year to build new capabilities to solve scenarios we’ve seen from our customers, and I’d like to share them with you here. If you’re unfamiliar with E-Migrator, it helps organizations migrate to Microsoft and Azure workloads. The Zoom to Teams version does exactly what it sounds like: it helps you automatically migrate upcoming Zoom meetings and meeting resources, such as recordings and files, from past meetings to Microsoft Teams.

Recover Data from Deleted Users

As mentioned above, E-Migrator can migrate previous meetings to Microsoft Teams. It can automatically discover past meeting recordings, videos, chats, files, and other artifacts from the meeting and move them to an Office 365 location. Most organizations decide to move these files to the OneDrive for Business folder of the meeting organizer. E-Migrator updates the meeting invite to point to this new location and automatically permissions the files for those invited to the call.

However, what happens to meetings created by a user who left the organization? In this case, we have a user who is no longer in Microsoft Entra or has a Microsoft 365 license. They still have data in Zoom from their time in the organization. E-Migrator can now discover these files and migrate them to, for example, a central repository like a SharePoint Online folder, enabling you to retain data that may still be critical to the organization.

Discover and Remediate Custom Invitations

Meeting organizers can modify their Zoom invitation in a number of different ways. They can attach supporting files, craft agendas, or add their own personal branding to an invite. Organizations can also create custom templates for Zoom invites. E-Migrator can discover all the different invitation styles in the organization, even down to the individual level, and show the default migration experience. If it looks like a custom invitation won’t maintain the correct formatting after migration, our remediation tool enables us to work together to fix it, before the migration takes place, ensuring your meeting organizers do not lose any of their hard work in the process.

Silent Data Extraction

Our new data extraction feature makes it easier than ever to pull data out of Zoom and migrate it to Microsoft 365. E-Migrator can now copy the data to a location of your choosing without modifying the original Zoom invitation, saving your users from notifications that Zoom can generate on edits to meeting invite. This process maintains the same dynamic controls; E-Migrator can automatically permission folders based on attendees or other criteria you might want to use. Retain your Zoom data, even after sunsetting the platform, to continue to provide access to important organizational knowledge and to comply with internal and external regulations.

Hosted Platform

Typically, we work with organizations to install E-Migrator directly in their environment, leveraging Azure components. This eliminates potential compliance and privacy issues by keeping all your data inside your tenant, with no need to send files or meeting metadata outside the organization. However, for some organizations, especially those smaller in size, this might be unduly cumbersome, either in effort or timeline. For such scenarios, Synergy Advisors can host E-Migrator in our environment, eliminating hurdles related to personnel availability, change management processes, and more.
